Meet Barb Turpin!

The Right Person at the Right Time!

My name is Barb Turpin and I want to be one of your council members.

Let me tell you a little about myself.

My husband and I purchased a lot near the water front in 2013, and began building ourselves a retirement home. That retirement project took us over four years to complete before we were able to move in at the beginning of the Spring of 2017.

We built the home ourselves, with some help, but it was a labor of love to be sure.

Both our careers, and our years of woodworking skills, enabled us to successfully build a beautiful home.

Along the way we have embraced the community and made it our home. We feel as if we have lived here many years, and have every intention to live here many more.

After my long career at the New York State Office of General Services, Design and Construction Group, in many facets of the building industry, I have since dedicated much of my time to the community in many ways.

I am a volunteer for the Saratoga County Meals in Wheels program; an active member of the Waterford Lions Club; on the Board of Trustees at the Waterford Museum; and was a former trustee for the Waterford Library.  I am also a member of the Waterford Canal and Towpath Society because I believe it is important to our community to care for and beautify these precious natural and historical assets.

I am an advocate for a cleaner and greener Waterford, so as I walk and ride my bicycle through the town and community I care for the trails by picking up trash. I have helped both the Library and Museum with their gardening, and plan to expand my gardening skills in other community locations.

Though I have not lived my whole life in Waterford, this wonderful community is now my ‘forever home,’ and I am committed to BUILDING Community through kindness, transparency, and continuous dialogue with Waterfordians. This would include:

  • BUILDING new relationships between all political affiliations,
  • BUILDING more confidence in local government,
  • BUILDING community programs at our Center for all residents,
  • BUILDING coalitions between community organizations
  • BUILDING support to encourage new businesses,
  • BUILDING improvements to the quality of life for all Waterfordians.

I promise to be patient, positive and persistent in my BUILDING approach.

I will bring my enthusiasm and fresh ideas to the Waterford Town Board, as one of your new council members.

I ask for your vote on November 2nd and appreciate your support!
