You'd never know it from the last twenty years in Waterford Village, but the position of Trustee is not a lifetime political appointment. And now, after God knows (the Village clerk sure doesn't know!) how many uncontested elections, it's high time to shine some light into Village Board proceedings and actions. What is needed now is to inject energy, responsiveness and accountability into the Board by electing a Trustee who is committed to recognizing and addressing Village problems … and who already knows town codes and is willing to enforce them. We also need to elect a Trustee who isn't a member of the entrenched “Tru Fordian” clique that seeks to intimidate and shut out any electoral competition. In short, Waterfordians need to elect Mark Turpin as Village Trustee.
